Training and Breeding Quality Reining Horses

Schwartzenberger Equine, LLC is a premiere training and breeding facility specializing in world caliber reining horses. Owned and operated by Steve and Dori Schwartzenberger, Schwartzenberger Equine is located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just north of Denver outside of Longmont, Colorado.

For over 40 years, the Schwartzenbergers have been raising, training and showing top performance horses. Their breeding and training programs have produced numerous top performing horses including:

  • Berryinfinitesurprise (Country Bay Berry x Tami Dee) who was tie 3rd in the 2009 NRHA Intermediate Open Futurity out of 324 entries. 
  • Juicy Evolution (Smart Like Juice x Chyna Moon) who competed with Sharee Schwartzenberger at the 2012 NRHA Futurity and finished 4th in the Non Pro Level 2 and 12th in the Non Pro Level 3.

Steve and Dori are both graduates of Colorado State University. Dori holds a PHD in beef cattle nutrition, while Steve is a graduate of the CSU Veterinary School. Working his way through college as a horse trainer, Steve realized after his 1982 graduation that training horses was his true passion.

Steve and Dori are involved in various aspects of the reining horse industry. Both are licensed NRHA judges, and Dori is a member of the NRHA Judges Committee and a past chairman. She gives judging seminars in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and is an accomplished and respected judge. Dori also enjoys starting two-year-old reining prospects and showing in her spare time.

Reining Runs in the Family 

The Schwartzenbergers have two daughters involved in the reining horse industry, Shevin and Sharee. Both are accomplished riders, with many top wins to their credit. Shevin rode Who Whiz Who to the 2012 AQHA Amateur Reining Reserve World Champion Title. At the prestigious NRHA Non Pro Futurity, Shevin was both an Intermediate and Limited Non Pro finalist riding Bueno Time Chex, and has since won numerous non pro futurity and derby championships. Shevin graduated from CSU in 2007 with a Bachelor in Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry. She is married to professional trainer Zane Haverty. The pair currently live in Texas.

Sharee is also an accomplished rider and showman. She has shown extensively in NRHA and AQHA as a Non Professional through 2016; turning professional in 2017. Her debut as a professional has proved her a capable competitor and talented coach. Sharee won over $160,000 as a Non Professional in NRHA events, and over $16,000 since turning professional. In addition, Sharee is one of the elite freestyle reining competitors in the nation. Sharee graduated from CSU with a degree in Restaurant and Resort Management and a minor in Business. She trains along side her dad and mom and runs the business side of Schwartzenberger Equine.

 

Reining Training in the Heart of Colorado

Schwartzenberger Equine is located on 11.5 acres, surrounded by alfalfa fields, and just a couple miles off of I-25. The facility is comprised of a 21-stall barn, 20 outdoor pens, a large outdoor track, an indoor arena, several round pens, walker, and breeding facilities.

Most of the time, the Schwartzenberger reiners can be found riding outside on their large outdoor track, with the Rocky Mountains rising majestically in the background to the west.
